Team Pentagon J’s Racing upset the form book as they closed the fastest time in qualifying today; to take pole position for tomorrow’s second edition of the Sepang 1000-kilometer race in Sepang.

Powered the highly experienced Japanese drivers Junichi Umemoto and Wataru Maeyama, the team, which has Malaysian Chris Tan as their third driver, recorded an average lap time of 2 minutes 38.358 seconds around the 5.543-km in their Honda Integra DC2; edging the more fancied Type R Racing Team and MOFAZ Racing.

Joining Team Pentagon on the front row would be JC Racing Team, which has Eddie Lew, Keifli Othman and Patrick Tam behind the steering wheel of the Honda Civic EK car. The team recorded an average lap time of 2 minutes 381 seconds.

MOFAZ Racing of Lai Wee Sing, Farriz Fauzy and Tseu Chan Kee would start from fourth place on the second row along with Team JDMS RCS Racing, which had Zane Loo, Perajun Krishnan and Damien Dielenberg as their drivers. Defending champion Type R Racing Team of Boy Wong, Soh Kee Koon and Tek Kean Kang would start from sixth on the grid.  

A total of 56 cars would start the race at noon tomorrow, which would run for 181 laps.
