A BRAND new track layout is expected to toughen up this year's Sepang International Circuit (SIC) - Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) Malaysian Motocross Championship which starts tomorrow at the Sepang Circuit.

SIC had hire the services of the region's renowned track builder See Am to change the configuration of the track.

"He has worked on tracks in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and other parts of the world and has been working diligently to ensure the Sepang motocross circuit provides the riders more challenges as well as making it more exciting for the fans," said SIC media manager Irwan Abd Rahman.

Among the major changes is the big jump at the finish line and the additional bumps creating more rhythm section thus making it a more challenging lap.

"As for the riders, this is definitely not the same circuit the raced last season. It will be a tougher lap and hopefully we will see a closer competition in all categories," added Irwan.

The series is open to seven categories including - Expert, Novice, Veteran, Trail bike, Junior, Cubcross and the Mini bike.

Defending champion Expert champion Larry Stuart Blair from New Zealand is looking forward in holding his position for another season.

However, the brothers pair of Mohd Al Amirul Asy-syahid Mohd Salleh and Mohd Habibullah Mohd Salleh or Gaban and Gabit respectively, are likely to be Blair's strongest title contenders.

Entry fee for the Expert category is RM150 while the fee other classes is priced at RM 50.

Note: All races to be held at the Sepang Circuit.
