He said the package tickets will also be sold at 10 Intercity train stations such as Singapore, Johor Baru, Tampin, Wakaf Bharu, Ipoh, Butterworth, Bukit Mertajam, Alor Setar Padang Besar and Kuala Lipis.
SkyBus Ventures chief executive officer Chris S. Thiagarajah said SkyBus is allocating 150 buses to transport Formula One fans to the circuit.
During the press conference, SIC CEO Razlan Razali said SIC is trying to encourage members of the public to use public transportations to get to the circuit.
“The public transportation will be the fastest and the cheapest way to get to the circuit. We are trying to discourage private vehicles from getting to the circuit to ease up on the traffic situation during the race weekend.
“The only vehicles allowed to get to the circuit on April 3 and 4 are the SkyBus, chartered buses and cars with parking stickers. This year, the check points or filtration points to check for cars with stickers and cars without are located further away from the circuit,” he said.
The five check points are located at the turn-off from KLIA Express near MAHB building, roundabout at KLIA Mosque, contra-flow split at Limo Deport Junction, Salak – Bandar Enstek Junction and SIC Main Paddock Entrance and Jalan KLIA Quarters.
Those who wish to drive to SIC during the race weekend will have to have a parking sticker, which can be purchased with their ticket. Vehicles without the stickers will not be allowed to enter the circuit area and will have to park at KLIA’s long-term parking area at RM30 per day. They can then take the feeder bus to SIC at RM10 per trip.
But parking is very limited, thus fans are advised to use the public transportation and avoid the hassle of being stuck in a jam or forgetting where they parked.
There will be 250 traffic police to monitor the traffic and a further 250 general-assignment police to monitor the situation at the circuit, so take heed: illegal parkers will be fined and their cars will be towed away.
