Lebanon secures best ever start

A1 Team Lebanon secured its best ever grid spot in qualifying today, and driver Daniel Morad reckons a win is now not out of the question.
In what was one of the stories of qualifying, rookie Morad put the team in third place on the grid for tomorrow’s Feature race.

Until Morad joined the team at the start of this season, the team’s best qualifying performance was 11th with Graham Rahal at Laguna Seca in the 2005/06 season. Since then, Morad has secured a brace of top ten grid slots in Zandvoort, but today represented the team’s best ever Saturday.

“This is definitely a big boost for us,” Morad told A1GP.com. “We didn’t have much track time through the whole weekend, we’re still learning, and we didn’t get the chance to experiment.

“We had to re-evaluate after the Sprint qualifying, because I was pushing too hard. I had to calm down a bit for Feature qualifying, and I kept it cleaner.

“I didn’t know who was using PowerBoost or what the situation was but I didn’t think it was that good. But we ended up third, and nearly everyone used their PowerBoost lap in the final run.

“The first thing I have to do tomorrow is maintain my spot after the start, but we should be really quick in the pit stops. We have the chance to move up.”
